This is an mp3 timer for a meditation featuring a traditional Indian Tamboura. There is 30 seconds of silence at the beginning to allow you to get settled into your meditation posture and then the soothing, hypnotic drone of the tamboura provides the perfect accompaniment to your meditation practise.
About Tambouras:
The hypnotic drone of the tamboura has been used for centuries in India as a backdrop to spiritual seekers' meditation practise.
"A tamboura (South India) or tanpura (North India) is a long-necked Indian plucked string instrument. In its bodily shape it somewhat resembles the sitar, but it has no frets, as only the open strings are played as a harmonic accompaniment to the other musicians. It has four or five (rarely, six) wire strings, which are plucked one after another in a regular pattern to create a harmonic resonance on the basic note (bourdon or drone function)" (Wikipedia)
